GuilfordWorks Summer Vocation Terms & Conditions
Participating EMPLOYERS must:
- Interview all “preferred” applicants and select youth whose skills best match the job description.
- Provide adequate work to fully occupy the summer employee’s hours.
- Pay the employee a competitive wage that does not fall below the minimum wage. The preferred minimum salary is $15 per hour.
- Assign quality, learning enriched tasks and ensure they are consistent with the job description.
- Communicate openly with GuilfordWorks’ staff to inform them of any performance issues before they become a problem.
- Allow GuilfordWorks’ staff to visit with the worksite supervisor and summer employee as necessary.
- Ensure youths work under safe and sanitary conditions.
- Comply with applicable Child Labor Laws for youths under 18 years of age.
GuilfordWorks will:

Refer youths to local businesses for interviews.

Assign a GuilfordWorks staff person to liaise between worksites and youth.

Pay employees’ wages (up to $15 per hour) and provide Worker’s Compensation coverage.

Assist to resolve conflicts or violations of worksite policies in cooperation with the worksite supervisor and employee.

Prepare youth before they report to your worksite on the first day of the program. Youth completing the session will receive a certificate of completion and be considered a “preferred” candidate.
