We Present Possibilities for Young Adults, Ages 16-24

GuilfordWorks Youth Program provides a comprehensive, integrated mix of services to build the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for young adults ages 16-24 to participate in a productive workforce. The service delivery approach is to lead youth through individualized planned activities targeting educational and career pathways — and there is no cost to participate!

NCWorks NextGen

Our NextGen program is designed to help young adult career-seekers, who require additional assistance, to enter and complete an education program or to secure and hold employment.

We help remove the barriers to employment for both in-school (ISY) and out-of-school youth (OSY) through a variety of services, including (but not limited to) career advising, mentoring, and leadership development. Successful completion of the program leads to a more skilled workforce with young adults attaining higher wages and self-sufficiency.

Young adults who are eligible for this program…

  • are currently enrolled in school, or out
  • have difficulty with math and reading
  • need a high school diploma or GED
  • are pregnant or raising a child
  • have trouble finding a stable housing
  • are runaways
  • have had some legal troubles
  • want to attend college or earn a credential
  • have a disability
  • are trying to learn English

Erik Swanson

Erik Swanson

Program Director NCWorks WIOA Services – Guilford County

Erik has spent over six years in workforce development, serving his community, and providing servant leadership to his staff. He graduated from college with a desire to help people improve their lives and through workforce development has been able to make an impact. He currently serves as the Programs Director for Guilford County WIOA Adult/Dislocated and Youth services.

Sabrina Breeden

Sabrina Breeden

NCWorks NextGen Young Adult Program Manager – Guilford County

Sabrina has previous experience as a Foster Care caseworker. She came to GuilfordWorks as a Youth Advocate and is presently the Program Manager for the NCWorks, NextGen program. Sabrina has a BA in Sociology and a Masters in Social Work. She is passionate about assisting youth and young adults in removing many of the barriers that some experience and starting them on the path to career success.

NCWorks NextGen Young Adult Program Community Outreach Coordinator – Guilford County

Jeremiah has spent several years working to divert young adults out of further involvement in the justice system. He finds work with NEXTGEN, fulfilling, by again connecting with young adults, in need of hope and then witnessing them thrive in their professional and career goals.
