ABOUT US

We Create Opportunities for Candidates & Businesses

GuilfordWorks is one of twenty-three Workforce Development Boards located in North Carolina. We collaborate with a multitude of businesses, educational and training institutions, community agencies, as well as local, regional, and state government representatives to help individuals and employers gain access to free or low-cost programs and services that connect talent to jobs.

The GuilfordWorks Board is comprised of a group of community and business leaders appointed by local elected officials. We are locally staffed by individuals with years of experience in our specific local and regional economies.

Particles Background

What We Do

Our work reaches adults seeking more meaningful careers, dislocated workers aiming to regain employment, and youth-focused on getting the right start in life.  We are committed to excellence in service delivery and customer service by providing universal access to high-quality workforce information and services for all customers:  the unemployed, underemployed, and currently employed workers, public and private employers, students and youth.

We work alongside employers from a broad range of industries that need workers with the training, skills and dedication to produce important products and services.

We coordinate the efforts of public and community resources to enhance North Carolina’s workforce capabilities.  Guided by an integrated, regional approach, we are committed to innovation and forward-thinking.

WDBs and WIOA

The federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funds that support the program and activities of North Carolina’s Workforce Development Boards.  North Carolina’s WDBs are partnered with the North Carolina Division of Workforce Solutions (a division of the Department of Commerce) which is designated by the Governor to be the state administrative entity that receives funds under the federal WIOA. The program offers opportunities for adults, veterans, and youth.  Through the work, at the local WDB level, we help employers find the qualified talent they need to ensure their business prospers.

Mission

GuilfordWorks creates equitable opportunities for our community and region by incorporating workforce and economic development practices that connect job seekers and employers in fundamental ways.
