NCWorks Career Centers in Guilford County will be closed for walk-in traffic Thursday, March 26.
Centers will resume normal operations Friday, March 27.
GuilfordWorks, in partnership with ChooseU, has launched AdvanceU, a free manufacturing training program for Guilford County residents. The first AdvanceU cohort began December 1, with participants working toward an industry-recognized Manufacturing Technician Level 1 (MT1) certification.AdvanceU is an eight-week training program offering classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and an on-the-job work experience with a local employer. Participants learn core production skills, including measurement, safety, quality practices, and manufacturing technology. The course also includes resume and interview support, hiring events, and opportunities to connect with employers in advanced manufacturing.Registration is open for AdvanceU Cohort 2, which begins in late January 2026. The program is free to eligible Guilford County residents and does not require previous manufacturing experience. Enrollment is first come, first served, and space is limited.Participants must be Guilford County residents age 18 or older, have a high school diploma or GED, meet income eligibility requirements, and pass an MT1 pre-assessment. Instruction is provided in English.
