Our Apprenticeship program recently received a boost. In November, we rolled out Gear Up | ASAP (Adult Specialized Apprenticeship Program), with an updated branding and a new website (coming soon). Along with the new look comes a reinvigorated focus, simplified procedures, and straightforward terminology. Watch the launch video below.

So, what is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeship is an industry-driven career pathway where employers develop and prepare their future workforce by combining customized, on-the-job training with related classroom instruction using the highest industry standards. It is a proven, time-tested system for recruiting, training and retaining a competitive workforce with business-specific skills.

How can it benefit your business?

Gear Up answers many labor force deficiencies prominent in today’s business climate. These challenges include:

As a competency-based plan of action, GuilfordWorks Gear Up | ASAP is specialized to meet the needs of any business, allowing flexibility in the learning structure. The program helps employers develop a talent pipeline to better serve the business long-term. The program also lowers search and recruitment costs and reduces onboarding costs utilizing Gear Up grants.

We offer both Pre-Apprenticeship training and Apprenticeship opportunities in our Welding career pathway through the Gear Up program.

How does the program help job seekers?

As part of the Gear Up program, apprentices get paid while learning job-specific skills in an in-demand career and gaining real-world work experience. Apprentices are also able to earn a nationally recognized, industry-endorsed certification. Most curricula can be completed in under two years, allowing apprentices to jump right into a career path and quickly reach a progressive wage.

Currently, we offer four career pathways, but recently added two new pre-apprenticeship career pathways: Computer Support Specialist and Cybersecurity Analyst. We are also working towards creating a healthcare apprenticeship with industry leaders for clinical and non-clinal positions in the healthcare field.
